Kudos to #Harvard for standing up to the #Trump admin.

Friday, April 11, the Trump admin expanded its list of demands to Harvard. (Note that Harvard made it public on the Harvard website.)

Today, Harvard President Alan Garber issued a public letter to the university community, explaining the latest Trump demands and the university's 𝙣𝙤 answer. "The University will not negotiate over its independence or its constitutional rights."

Also see Harvard's official answer to the Trump admin, through its lawyers. "The university will not surrender its independence or relinquish its constitutional rights. Neither Harvard nor any other private university can allow itself to be taken over by the federal government. Accordingly, Harvard will not accept the government’s terms as an agreement in principle."

@mischievoustomato @zero tbh this sort of thing is why I run openSUSE Tumbleweed on my main PC. The automated QA is good enough to keep shit from breaking, and the only update related problems I have are from the Packman repo updating too slow or sometimes removing a package and not telling you properly
And from Nvidia at times but that, too, has been from moving away from the official repos

Accurate, yeah. I've got thoughts on the criminal justice system.
@p it's one thing to read about and understand that the system is fundamentally broken
It's another to get a nice food look from inside the fucking rotten thing
I've got people on my list who absolutely don't deserve one iota of help. People who don't want help, who make no effort, who are a drain. Chomos and rapists who we actually dedicate team meeting time to discuss "how do we help them and not make them feel bad?" Like, female coworkers express discomfort about being asked to meet with a rapist in person get told "oh but that would make him feel judged!"

Meanwhile people who actually need the help are often shafted. Denied SSI where people in better positions are granted it. People with nothing and nobody get their food stamps cut when fat people with family support paying their rent and their personal out of pocket case manager get their food stamps more than doubled. Turned loose from these programs that do help them at least a little because "you've been disabled too long so now you have to go on Medicaid sorry it doesn't cover anything you've been making use of ok bye"
